# Learning defaults

> Set the default learning controls for your workspace.

## Purpose

Use learning defaults to control how learners can discover and enroll in learning.

## Procedure

1. Open **Workspace**.
2. Select **Settings**.
3. Select **Learning defaults**.
4. Set **Allow self-enrollment** when learners can enroll without an administrator assignment.
5. Set **Show default catalog** when the default catalogue should be visible.
6. Set the reporting retention period.
7. Select **Save changes**.

## Result

New learning workflows use the saved workspace defaults.
